Best mame emulator for android

Mame4droid is a Mame emulator that allows you to play thousands of classic titles on your Android device. Just as a clarification, the app itself doesn't include any games, but rather offers the ability to play them. That is, you will have to download the roms separately, which is not really difficult either.

It's nice because you can download cores for several different versions of MAME: 2000, 2003, 2010, and 2014, and maybe 2016 as well. And there's also Final Burn Alpha in case a game works better with that.In the past I have tried downloading romsets, specific versions of romsets to go with a specific version of MAME or FBA, and I inevitably run into games that don't run despite being from a matching set, or missing games that I want. I'm also not particularly excited about downloading multiple 40+ GB sets just to get a handful of games that I care about. So what I do is I find a rom site that has individual arcade roms for the games I want, then just try each one with different MAME or FBA cores until I find one that works. It's way easier.Honestly, the way MAME is currently documented is extremely frustrating, as it's geared toward a particular tiny niche of collectors who absolutely must have every last game ever made. All the talk about 'downloading a whole set' when you just want to play Galaga is useless and misleading.EDIT: I should add that I've settled on the lr-mame2010 core for pretty much everything, occasionally using an earlier version or FBA if performance is bad. Mostly it's because one of my favorite games, Tapper, only seems to work on mame2010.

In general, later versions are slower. So mame2010 is probably the newest that will work on an average device, and mame2003 is a safe bet on even low end devices. All the talk about 'downloading a whole set' when you just want to play Galaga is useless and misleading. While I respect RetroArch, i need to find a afternoon to set it up. I currently am rocking a TV Launcher.

Launcher that have wicked pictures that correspond with the emulators I have set up for NES, SNES etc.I wish there was a set with like the classics! I don't need variations of Pac Man but I do want the like classic, Mrs, Ms etc. Even if I knew them all by name youd be nothing short of a mad man to sort through 40gb of roms xD.

MAME 64-bit is great free emulator that lets you! The tool’s purpose is to preserve decades of software history.

As electronic technology continues to rush forward, the app prevents this important “vintage” software from being lost and forgotten. This is achieved by documenting the hardware and how it functions.

The source code to the app serves as this documentation. The fact that the software is usable serves primarily to validate the accuracy of the documentation (how else can you prove that you have recreated the hardware faithfully?). Over time, the app absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so the programnow documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus.MAME, formerly was an acronym which stood for Multi Arcade Machine Emulator, documents and reproduces through emulation the inner components of arcade machines, computers, consoles, chess computers, calculators, and many other types of electronic amusement machines. As a nice side-effect, the app allows to use on a modern PC those programs and games which were originally developed for the emulated machines. At one point there were actually two separate projects, MAME and MESS.

The software covered arcade machines, while MESS covered everything else. They are now merged into the one MAME. Lvd cadman cracker. The tool is mostly programmed in C with some core components in C. MAME 64-bit can currently emulate over 32000 individual systems from the last 5 decades.
